Heat pump rebates in Metro Vancouver
These are the four rebate programs that apply to the heating and hot water systems we install. Here's who each one is for, how it's paid and how we help with the paperwork. Program details were last checked on October 21, 2026.

CleanBC Better Homes: switching to a heat pump
This is the provincial program for homes moving to a heat pump, either a central system or ductless. The largest amounts go to homes switching from gas heat, a gas furnace or boiler, to a heat pump. Switching from electric heat qualifies for less.
With ductless, the amount also depends on the system. Single-zone systems qualify for a lower amount than a whole-home installation. Reaching the maximum requires three or more zones plus coverage of a qualifying share of the home.
It applies to central heat pumps and ductless mini splits. Dual fuel systems and furnaces don't qualify for it.
BC Hydro Home Renovation Rebate: homes on electric heat
This one is for homes heated only by electricity, usually electric baseboards, that are replacing that heat with a heat pump. It doesn't apply if you're replacing gas heat.
BC Hydro requires the install to be done by a member of the Home Performance Contractor Network, and we're a member.
Baseboard homes usually have no ductwork, so this most often goes with ductless mini splits. It can also apply to a central heat pump.
FortisBC dual fuel rebate: keeping gas as backup
This is for homes replacing an older gas furnace with a dual fuel system: a regular heat pump that does most of the heating, paired with a new high-efficiency gas furnace that takes over in cold weather.
FortisBC requires a program-approved heat load calculation, which works out how much heat your home needs. It's done by an independent energy advisor. We arrange the report, and it shows as its own line on your invoice. Here's what a heat load report is.
It applies to dual fuel systems only.
$4,000 for any eligible home
- A residential FortisBC natural gas account, at your year-round primary residence
- A detached house, duplex, triplex, row home or townhouse
- Your existing gas furnace is your main heat, and it's at least 15 years old
- A central ducted heat pump paired with a 95% or higher efficiency gas furnace, from FortisBC's qualified dual fuel list
- A program-approved heat load calculation
- Installed by a licensed gas contractor in the Home Performance Contractor Network, on or after October 15, 2026
- The system switches to the furnace at 5°C or lower, and stays set that way
$8,000 if your household is income-qualified
- Everything above, plus:
- Your household income is below FortisBC's limit for your household size
- Your home is at least 10 years old, 3,500 square feet or smaller, and assessed under $1.2 million
- You own only one property in BC
- You provide proof of income

CleanBC heat pump water heater rebate
This is for replacing a hot water tank with a heat pump water heater, which heats water by moving heat out of the surrounding air.
Because eligibility has to be confirmed before we install, plan ahead if your tank is still working. If it has already failed, call us and we'll talk through the options.

How we help with the application
We assist you with the paperwork for whichever rebates you qualify for. The application stays in your name: you're the applicant, and we help you get the details and documents right.
How the money reaches you is different for each program, so check the panel for the one that applies to you.
What decides what you get
Three things decide which rebates you qualify for and how much: your home, how it's heated now, and for some programs your household income. FortisBC's dual fuel rebate, for example, pays more to income-qualified households.
We check this at your free estimate and tell you which programs look likely to fit. We can't promise an amount, because the programs set the rules and the amounts, and both change.
Rebate amounts are subject to eligibility and program funding. We'll confirm what you qualify for during your free estimate.
Rebates that can't be combined
- BC Hydro's rebate doesn't apply when you're replacing gas heat, only electric heat.
- FortisBC dual fuel rebate: can't be combined with other FortisBC, provincial or federal rebates on the same system.
- CleanBC heat pump water heater rebate: a separate application and a separate incentive stream from the space-heating heat pump rebate, so it does not stack into the same claim.
Rebate questions
Do furnaces, boilers or air conditioners qualify for a rebate?
Not on their own. A gas furnace can be part of a dual fuel system, which has its own FortisBC rebate. Boilers, central air conditioning and standard hot water tanks don't qualify for the programs on this page.
Is the rebate taken off my invoice?
It depends on the program:
CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program: deducted directly from your invoice.
BC Hydro Home Renovation Rebate Program: you apply after installation.
FortisBC dual fuel heating system rebate: you apply after installation.
CleanBC heat pump water heater rebate: deducted directly from your invoice.
Do I have to do the application myself?
We assist you with the paperwork for whichever rebates you qualify for. The application stays in your name, and we help you get it right.
How long does the heat pump water heater rebate take to confirm?
Eligibility must be confirmed before installation, which can take up to four weeks. We book your install once it's confirmed.
Is your monthly offer a rebate?
No. Our monthly offer is our own discount, and it's separate from any government or utility rebate.
